Google launches video chat for Gmail

Google is adding video and enhancing voice functions to their Gmail interface. It is really easy and simple to install. This is not a Skype replacement for it does not let you connect to a normal phone network.

Unlike other chat apps, Gmail voice and video uses its own plug-in, not Flash. The plugin supports Firefox, Internet Explorer, and Chrome on the PC and Firefox on the Mac.

This service will be starting on Tuesday at noon PST and will be available global by the end of the day.

The current Gtalk program does had a voice feature for a while, but may not get the video function for some time
