How to Backup Gmail emails

November 30, 2008

Gmail Backup does what it says. It makes a backup of all your email on Gmail. So if you ever need your emails or want to transfer them you can just download it and install it.

So go to Gmail backup homepage and download the software. THis program is free and doesnt charge any fees like other backup utilities.

After you launch it enter your user id and password. Then select the folder you wish to save the backup to. And then select the dates you wish to backup from.

THen it will start backing up all your emails. The files will be saved as a .eml format. You will need a program like Outlook or Thunderbird to open them. There is also an option to only backup the newest mail. This will prevent you from backing up the same emails twice.
