What is New in Firefox 3

Firefox 3 is finally released on "Download Day". So you may ask, "What are some new improvements in Firefox 3"? You know that it fits every standard you can think of. Well i will talk about all of it new features.

The URL Bar

Now this is not a new feature, but is changed on how the auto-complete displays results on the URL bar. When you type in the URL bar it dosen`t only give you the website by alphabetical order but it searches through your bookmarks and your recent sites and sees which sites are beter results. However some people may not like this new feature and can install an addon called Oldbar. It makes the URL bar back to the way it was in firefox 2. I personally like this feature.

Quick & easy bookmarking

This is a very helpful feature in Firefox 3. If you look at the URL bar you will notice a star on the right side. If you click that the current page will be bookmarked. The bookmark will be sent to the unsorted section. If you click the star once more you can edit where you want the bookmark to be located. Now you can add tags to your bookmarks.So if you tag something with a specific tag you can search it. It also works with the URL bars new auto-complete upgrade. 

You can change the name of the Unsorted Bookmarks by right click it and selecting properties just like the other folders. Something that i was looking for but can find is a keyboard shortcut to the new quick bookmark feature.

Now the bookmarks have a "Most Visited" folder. This can be helpful if you went to a site recently and forgot what it was. Then you have the "Recent Bookmarked" and "Recent Tagged" folders. 

Site Favicon Info

 Now you can click the favicon to get information on the site. Right now even Google dosen`t have info so I wouldn`t be surprised if no one else had no information. If you click more info you get security information of the site.\

Download Manager

The downloads have not changed much now when you right click on a downloadd you can open the file, open its containing folder, go to the original download page, copy the download link, or remove it from the list.

Text selection and find

Now you can double click a word to hightlight it, triple click a paragraph to highlight it, and hold ctrl  to hightlight multiple things. You can also zoom in out by holding ctlr and scrolling with the mouse. It now zooms both text and images. Also you can select a word and press Ctrl + F and the selected items will appear in Find.

Interface tweaks

There isn`t that much of a change to Firefox`s design but you will notice new control icons. The back button is now bigger. It integrates with the OS with either Windows, mac, or Linux.

Security

When Firefox first was released security was not a big problem at least compared to Internet Explorer.However now that Firefox`s user base has grown it has become more of a target to attacks and hackers. This feature uses anti-virus software to identify whether the site is harmful or not.
