Increase Windows Explorer default thumbnail size for pictures
August 25, 2008
I don`t understand why Windows XP dosen`t allow you to increase the Windows Explorer thumbnail size.
This is how Windows Explorer shows thumbnails by default:
When you are looking for a picture it does not seem to be big enough. There is a way to modify this without messing with the registry.
You may of heard of Tweak UI, which is a free utility that lets you tweak Windows XP settings. Using Tweak UI you can change the default 96 pixel thumbnail size to a larger one.
After you install it got to the Start Menu –> All Programs –> and Powertoys for WIndows XP –> Tweak UI. After you open it CLick on the Explorer group and then Thumbnail on the left side.
Then change the default size from 96 to 256. Make sure the Image Quality is closer to high so you can see the images more clearly.

Enable more file types for Windows Vista Explorer Preview
August 17, 2008
One new feature in Vista is the Windows Explorer preview function. It gives you a preview of the selected file. This way you know if you are opening the correct file. However it dosen`t preview every file type
The only way to fix this was to hack the registry manually. However someone has made an app that finds the program file types on your computer and allow them to have a preview. By default Windows allows certain files such as .txt, .doc, .ppt, .xls, and more.
If you haven`t turned on the preview in Windows Explorer you can do so by going to Organize>Layout and Preview Pane
PreviewConfig allows you to add new files for the preview. After you install it you will see a list of file types on the left side.
You could allow the preview to be Plain text, Media, or none. Then click Apply
