Verizion`s solution to P2P
March 16, 2008
Verizon has been try out a new technology called P4P, which localizes
P2P file transfers. This means instead of you getting files from people
around the world ,P4P prefers local people than farther people. This
reduces the number of hops from an average of 5.5 to 0.89.
Verizion will save a lot and users will get downloads twics as fast
and even six times as fast.So will this also solve the problem with
Comcast and Bittorennt?
Cynthia Brumfield of IP Democracy:
To accomplish the increased efficiencies, Verizon has to share
information about its network with file-sharing companies, something
that few other broadband service providers are probably willing to do.AT&T said they are working with Hollywood to stop illegal
downloading.Comcast has not responded on this topic.Verizion is not
going to stop P2P for Hollywood. The company has been expanding their
network and developing new technology.
