i think Dell would be beter for the affordable side.

From personal experience, I find HPs to be of better quality. The laptop I'm typing from now is an HP and it's served me well.

With that being said, I have had to send it back twice to replace my keyboard but I've yet to decide if that was normal wear and tear or a result of my carelessness.

In any case, if its under warranty its free to replace-- HP even pays for shipping. I'm not sure about pricing but if HP is costlier I say spring for it-- but make sure to get a warranty plan!

if u want ma honest opinion i say go with a dell. From my experience i had a hp a380w maybe something close and the processor died after 2 years. I also have a dell xps and a dell vostro 1500 they're borderline incredible. Plus u have more options with dell just do it man.

thanks for your replies i will probably go for the best bang for the buck.I too am writing this post from an HPP (dad`s).I have a dell but the power adapter on it broke because of my carelessness.It lasted me a good 3-4 years.I like HPs design,very attractive.Like i said ,whatever gives me the best bang for the buck.
