Is the PS3 Bluray player the same as a normal bluray player

I was wondering if the Bluray player that come with the PS3 good as a bluray player you buy separately?

Yea, originally one of the upsides of purchasing a PS3 was you're were getting a BluRay player for cheaper than what you would pay from other manufacturers. And as an added bonus you get a beast of a gaming machine as well.
