Speed Up BitTorrent from ISPs that block P2P

ISPs are very worried about their users running P2P applications. Depending on your location P2P can take between 50 and 75% of broadband internet traffic. With this amount of traffic ISPs may have to raise the price of delivery service. It can also cause traffic jams in your area or on the ISPs network. This ends up in the ISPs buying more bandwidth.Due to this ISPs are slowing down transfers.

Encrypt to Your BitTorrent Transfers

RC4 encryption is integrated in  many BitTorrent applications.Encryption not only encrypts the header but the whole body. This will make it very hard for the ISP to detect that you are using BitTorrent. Even if your ISP dosen`t block bitTorrent, , you could be sharing with peers with ISPs that do.

  • Azureus To turn on encryption, head to the Tools menu. Select Options, then Connection, then Transport Encryption. Check the "Require encrypted transport" box and select RC4 in the "Minimum encryption" drop-down menu.
  •  µTorrent  In µTorrent, open up the Preferences panel and select the BitTorrent tab. Select Protocol encryption
and then choose between "enabled" and "forced." µTorrent's "Enabled"
option mirrors Azureus' option to allow unencrypted connections when no
encrypted clients exist. It will give you more connections, but it
won't be as effective at defeating traffic shapers.
  • BitComet  To turn on encryption in BitComet, head to the Options menu and choose Preferences. Then go to Advanced > Connection and select "Protocol encryption." There are options for "auto detect" and "always."

Change Your BitTorrent Port Number

The original port for BitTorrent traffic is port 6881 and other clients using from 6881-6999.Now because of ISP disruptio, clients are now allowing you to change your port. The settings are in you options or presences. When you change your port you need to configure your router. http://www.portforward.com/ will guide you through this process.
