Delete an Undeletable or Locked File
There are two ways that i will show you to resolve this.
#1: Kill explorer.exe
Run command prompt
Go to the location where the locked file is
Press CTRL-ALT-DEL,which will take you to the “task manager”, click on the Processes tab
Close the explorer.exe process by clicking the “End Process” button
Return to the command prompt and delete the file
Go back to the task manager
Go to the applications tab and press file->new task
Enter explorer.exe in the “create new task” field
Press OK.
#3: Use unlocker
Unlocker is freeware that will let you delete any files that are being used by Windows. If you
are getting any of these messages when trying to delete a file it means that windows is using that file:
Cannot delete file: Access is denied
There has been a sharing violation
The source or destination file may be in use
The file is in use by another program or user
Make sure the disk is not full or write-protected and that the file is not currently in use
Unlocker will let you delete that file. After installing it you will start seeing a new menu when right clicking called “unlocker”.Just go to the file location and right click it and select "unlocker".Then the unlocker software will run and click “unlock all” and it will close any program using that file. Then go and delete it.
