The Mobile Revolution

March 4, 2008

What a week in the mobile community. The new mobile OS`s are:Symbian, Windows Mobile, Apple’s mobile OS X and Google’s Android. They are environments that allow application to work on many OS`s.

Sun seems to be in the lead. And Adobe’s Flash Lite following.Microsoft stated Tuesday that it was developing a mobile version of Silverlight, which is like flash. And Google is making a mobile version of Google Gears so people can use online application offline.

Apple is only allowing applications that use their mobile safari browser. However it will not allow flash ,which stinks cause alot of games and video content is in flash. However the iPhone does have their own Youtube player and can view video in Quicktime format.

Microsoft’s Silverlight which is brand new is for allot of online application but focusing on video.Nokia announced that it will use Silverlight on their new S60 smart phones and midrange Series 40 phones. This great news for Microsoft because Nokia is the world`s top cell phone maker.

Google Gears allows is going mobile for applications like Zoho ,which is office on the web.THis means that users will be able to save their documents and then view them when they are not online.
